Dear friends and supporters,
Happy New Year! As we are approaching 2020, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all of your support of The Little Market and reflect on 2019. Thank you to our wonderful customers and readers, the artisan groups we work with, our advisors and Council, our partners, and our family and friends. We are grateful for your partnership, purchases and donations, and support of our mission. It makes a meaningful difference.
In the 2018-2019 fiscal year, The Little Market ethically purchased 65,547 units of product, helping to generate 352,163 hours of dignified work.1 We currently carry products from more than 70 artisan groups and social enterprises in over 25 countries and sovereign states across the world. Thank you for shopping fair trade and supporting hardworking artisans in underserved communities.
Over the past year, we have launched a variety of new products including gift sets, jewelry, accessories, baskets, bags, candle scents, bath bombs, tea, and coffee. We are so grateful to each one of the incredible artisan groups and social enterprises for the partnerships we have built together. We admire your hard work, traditions, and resilience.
We also hosted our inaugural International Women’s Day lunch in Los Angeles, Calif. and were grateful to be surrounded by so many strong women leaders, entrepreneurs, and activists. In addition, we kicked off our Coffee + Conversation series in the Palisades Village. Through monthly installments, we connect with like-minded organizations, including Human Rights Watch and the Downtown Women’s Center, and raise awareness around our missions. In addition, we participated in a variety of pop-up events including the Malibu Chili Cook-Off and opened our holiday pop-up in Newport Beach, Calif.
Our team visited social enterprises we work with right here in Downtown Los Angeles, the Downtown Women’s Center and Homeboy Industries. Our Product Development team also traveled to Mexico to meet with artisan groups like Rose Ann Hall Designs and Luchometik as well as to expand our partnerships and product offering.
We collaborated with 10 charity partners including CARE and Equal Justice Initiative. We also recognized the one-year anniversary of our collaboration with This is About Humanity.
To read more about our collective impact, we would love to share our 2019 Report with you. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for making 2019 a year to remember.
As we look back on 2019 and ahead to 2020, we are so excited to see what is in store and to further grow The Little Market. Thank you for shopping fair trade, advocating for human rights for all, and believing that everyone deserved fair wages and dignified work. We appreciate all of your support and wish you and your family a wonderful new year!
