At The Little Market, we are proud to partner with incredible nonprofits, social enterprises, and charities that are dedicated to advocating for human rights and raising awareness around social justice issues.
This summer, we are celebrating two years of impact with This is About Humanity, which is a community founded in July 2018 and dedicated to raising awareness about separated and reunified families and children at the U.S.-Mexico border. The This is About Humanity Fund at the International Community Foundation helps support individuals on either side of the border with essentials for living, access to legal services, mental wellness checkups, construction projects at shelters, and critical needs for unaccompanied minors.
We teamed up with This is About Humanity nearly two years ago because we believe that seeking asylum and sanctuary is a human right.
Through our collaboration, we have created special edition candles and totes. These candles are hand-poured in small batches by women who have resettled as refugees in Western Massachusetts. The totes are hand-sewn by artisan women in rural Bangladeshi communities. For every purchase, we will donate half of the respective purchase price to the This is About Humanity Fund.
We have also created an International Pride tote bundle featuring a This is About Humanity shopping tote and frosted cookies, made and available locally for delivery in Los Angeles. The LGBTQIA+ community is disproportionately affected by family separation. With each order, we are donating $20 to This is About Humanity and shelters that welcome the LGBTQIA+ community and their families.
These delicious, freshly baked goods are prepared by producers at Homeboy Bakery, the social enterprise division of Homeboy Industries, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides a second chance and a safe space for young women and men who are rebuilding their lives while escaping gang life.
Through your collective support, we have raised $50,185 to date to support This is About Humanity’s efforts to reunite families. Now more than ever, your continued support is essential to uplifting and protecting families.
Thank you for your continued support of The Little Market and our work with This is About Humanity.
Together, through the power of our voices and actions for positive change, we can make a difference in the lives of the most vulnerable communities.
