A nonprofit founded by women to empower women, a core part of The Little Market’s mission is to empower women in underserved communities by supporting dignified income opportunities and ethically purchasing artisan-made goods. We are so excited to celebrate International Women’s Day not only on March 8, but every day. This March, we have partnered with inspiring women-centered brands and are so grateful to our sponsors for their support of our mission. Today, we are spotlighting Bumble.
Bumble is a fellow mission-driven brand that is led by women and believes in advocating for women’s rights every day. We are thankful for Bumble’s support of The Little Market and our mission.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
Both on and off the app, Bumble supports users in making the first move, which in part encourages women to be the first to message their matches and start a conversation. But it is so much more than just that — Make the First Move sets the groundwork for women working toward gender equality across the world. Together, we can disrupt traditional gender norms and work toward a more equal world for all.
Bumble believes that by empowering women in all aspects of life, including business, friendship, and love, everyone is empowered — which we love. It fosters an environment for integrity, kindness, equality, confidence, and respect for everyone. We invite you to join in our missions and Bumble’s International Women’s Day campaign this year. Women can share how they’re empowering women in pursuit of gender equality, whether it’s a monthly goal, a habit, a story, or a pledge. Through this campaign, Bumble hopes that we can build a community of women empowering one another to #MaketheFirstMove in business, love, and life in general.
MAKE THE FIRST MOVE
We believe in the power of women empowering women. Here are some of our favorite ideas on how to uplift one another!
- Use video/voice calls in Bumble to connect virtually while practicing social distancing.
- Have a virtual networking or mentorship session.
- Mentor a young woman in the early stages of her career.
- Support women-owned and women-led organizations.
- Raise awareness around women’s rights and help to educate others on what they can do to make the world a more equal place.
- Stay in tune with the latest news on our path to gender equality.
- Network with your female friends and help one another grow in your professional and personal lives.
- Advocate for fellow women and share uplifting words with one another.
- Share compliments and words of kindness with women in your life.
From our co-founders to the artisan groups and social enterprises we work with, our team is full of women making the first move. Hannah Skvarla and Lauren Conrad created The Little Market to empower women in underserved communities all around the world, and we prioritize working with groups uplifting artisan women and advancing human rights.
The Little Market is both a nonprofit social enterprise and a fair trade store; we actively search for artisan groups and social enterprises that are empowering women because we recognize that investing in women means investing in their families and communities at-large. We believe in the right for all individuals to have access to dignified, living wages and safe work environments, regardless of background or any identifying factor. And we strive to use our platform as a voice for those who have none — advocating for human rights and social justice for the most vulnerable populations. Thank you for supporting our mission and working with us toward gender equality.
Bumble generously served as a sponsor of our third annual International Women’s Day luncheon and kindly donated to our gift bags. Thank you to Bumble for your partnership and for helping to make our event such a success!
