We’re so excited to be launching a new collection of beautiful, fair trade jewelry at The Little Market today!
The Little Market is proud to work with social enterprise TAYO Collective to help create job opportunities for inspiring women in the Philippines. We first connected with TAYO Collective toward the end of 2017 and were immediately impressed by the artisan group’s mission and the jewelry that each woman works hard to create.
TAYO Collective works with 15 women, between the ages of 20 and 30 years, who are survivors of the sex trade. By working with the social enterprise, they have access to safe housing, dignified employment, nutrition and health training, personal development programs, and a tuition-free college education.
To create this jewelry by hand, the female artisans use high-quality materials such as 14k gold-filled and 14k rose gold-filled hardware, opals, and locally sourced pearls. A metal chain is cut to the desired length, and a wire-wrapping technique is followed to attach the clasps onto the jewelry and create the pendants. These techniques have been passed down across generations of women.
Visit our collection at The Little Market to find this collection available in two colorways — rose gold and yellow gold. Or shop by style! We carry blue opal and pearl necklaces and bracelets, as well as a stunning triangle necklace. These elegant pieces add just the right touch to elevate and complete an everyday outfit.
Every time you make a purchase of this fair trade jewelry at The Little Market, you are ultimately supporting these hard-working female artisans. We can empower them to break the cycle of poverty and permanently escape the sex trade.
Thank you for your support of our fair trade, artisan-made goods. Together, by shopping with a purpose, we can help to make a meaningful difference in the lives of female artisans around the world!
