Happy World Fair Trade Day! World Fair Trade Day is a day that celebrates and recognizes the Fair Trade Movement and its efforts in combating poverty, exploitation, and climate change and promoting ethical and responsible consumption. Fair trade has two sides: production and consumption.

The Little Market is a proud member of the Fair Trade Federation, which describes fair trade as “an approach to business and to development based on dialogue, transparency, and respect that seeks to create greater equity in the international trading system.” The Little Market is a nonprofit that was founded to empower women around the world by offering products made using fair trade practices.

Through fair trade practices, artisans, farmworkers, and craftspeople in marginalized and vulnerable populations are paid a sustainable income for their work. Fair wages help these individuals and their families rise above poverty. Through our online platform, the artisans reach a wider market to which they can sell their products.
