Shaved Ice, Ice Baby

Let this frozen treat be the cherry on top of your summer festivities. Get ready for fun in the sun and mix up this cool dish in the kitchen. Our friend Claire Thomas from The Kitchy Kitchen made this sweet shaved ice with three berry good toppings. It’s perfect for an outdoor dinner party or a post lunch treat. See the recipe below!

Fill a small bowl with shaved ice. Pack it down a bit with a spoon (or your hands) and add more shaved ice on top again. Drizzle with desired syrup (adding booze if you like!), top with a cherry and coconut whipped cream, and enjoy.

Combine water and sugar in a saucepan over medium-high heat; stir until sugar is dissolved. Mix remaining ingredients into the saucepan and bring to a boil, cooking for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until strawberries are mushy and sauce is thick, another 10 minutes. Strain liquid into a bottle and refrigerate.

In a blender, combine the ingredients and blend thoroughly. Keep chilled, bit you might have to blend again before using if it rehardens.

Hosting an event soon and want to recreate this look? Pour the shaved ice in a margarita glass and serve with a ceramic bowl or Moroccan glass.
