Leslie Bruce - Book Launch - 2019

We are so excited to introduce our latest collaboration at The Little Market!

BEHIND THE COLLABORATION

Leslie Bruce, a close friend of The Little Market co-founders Lauren Conrad and Hannah Skvarla, designed two beautiful products in celebration of her latest book launch, “You Are a F*cking Awesome Mom.” We hope this gift tote and candle remind moms of their hard work, love, and caring hearts. Share a laugh and shop the encouraging pieces for yourself, a soon-to-be mama, or your fellow mom friends.

MEET LESLIE

Leslie is a five-time New York Times best-selling author (including “Celebrate,” our go-to book for all things entertaining, with Lauren) and an award-winning entertainment journalist. In 2016, she launched “Unpacified” to support women and share encouraging words during the transition into motherhood. Leslie lives in Southern California with her husband and two kids. Passionate about empowering mothers, she wrote “You Are a F*cking Awesome Mom” in which she shares her insight on the chaos, fun, and beauty of motherhood.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Leslie in 2017 to learn more about her story, her family, and her work. Here are a few moments from the piece!

What’s your favorite topic to write about?

Currently … real, honest motherhood. It’s what I’m most passionate about because it’s what I’m living every day.

You have such an honest way of telling stories. Were you ever nervous to open yourself up to the public so much?

Terrified. I’m an incredibly private person, so the idea of sharing my story and putting it out into the blogosphere (a world which isn’t always that kind) felt really daunting. But I realized that in order to best support other women who are also on this motherhood journey, I needed to be open, honest, and sincere about my own experience. I’m a pretty confident person when it comes to most things, but, for me, motherhood left me feeling so vulnerable. There was this tremendous pressure to be really good at it — after all, I’m raising another human and hoping she is a good, happy person. And not just any human … a human that I really, really like! It’s a very humbling experience.

How has being a mom made you more compassionate toward women around the world?

Motherhood provides a connective tissue that can break any geographical, ethnic, and socio-economic barrier. When women become mothers, their life is no longer their own. It’s no longer about doing what is right and best for us, it’s about caring for and protecting our children to the best of our ability and hopefully leaving this world a better place for them.

What does empowering women mean to you?

Everything. It means demanding equal treatment, equal pay, and equal rights, and it means never conceding that battle until every woman is treated with the same respect as every man.
