Meet the Artisans: Collective Humanity

We are so excited to introduce Collective Humanity to The Little Market! We have worked with this incredible team of artisans on our newest collection of lightweight throws.

Collective Humanity is a community-based nonprofit organization in Cambodia empowering socially and economically marginalized women through sustainable income opportunities. The namesake derives from our shared experience and connections as human beings and the responsibility we all have to care for one another.

Artisans all have the flexibility to work from home in open air studios, which allows them to work and take care of their daily responsibilities.

We are proud to carry beautiful, hand-woven blankets from Collective Humanity. Artisans practice an eco-conscious method and preserve generations of techniques to create each of these throws. In a sustainable process, each throw is naturally dyed, and several are botanically dyed. Plus, any rice husks used to heat the kiln are repurposed as fertilizer. After the cotton has been dyed, artisans start to prepare the looms for weaving.

By working with Collective Humanity, women have access to key resources, from skills training to finance training to personal development workshops. Collective Humanity has also developed a community emergency fund that is fully managed by the artisans, as well as community cleanup days and environmental educational programs for children.
